The Finance Department is now looking for a driven and communicative economist who wants to help develop SLU's central accounting process.

About the job

The accounting unit of the Finance Department now offers a developing and stimulating economic position where you will take on significant responsibility.

In this position, you will work with qualified accounting tasks with great breadth - everything from analyses, reconciliations, and quality assurance to routine development, environmental monitoring, reporting, and year-end closing work.

Together with engaged colleagues in the accounting unit's accounting team, you will work with SLU's central accounting process. In the team, we operate based on different areas of responsibility where each member monitors, follows up, and drives issues within their area. This position includes responsibility for payment flows, fee-based operations, VAT and taxes, as well as donation capital. SLU also manages about 90 foundations, and in this role, you will be the responsible economist for foundation management.

An important part of the job is to inform, educate, and provide support to our institutions. Together with other colleagues in the accounting team, you will participate in various training sessions and information initiatives organized by the Finance Department.

Your background

We are looking for someone who:

• is a university or college-educated economist or has other education or equivalent competence that we assess as equivalent.
• has several years of work experience with qualified tasks in accounting.
• has very good knowledge of systems within the financial area and a good understanding of how data flows within and between different systems.
• has very good Excel skills as Excel is one of our most important work tools.

Experience with government accounting, preferably from the university or college sector or another large organization, is an advantage. Experience with foundation management is also meritorious.

To succeed, you need to be analytical and able to independently drive issues and handle complex assessments. You should have good communication skills, be curious, and have a proactive approach. We see it as positive to have a strong IT interest as we actively work to streamline and automate our financial processes.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

The Finance Department at SLU is responsible for the processes of payments, receipts, financial accounting, purchasing, procurement, and foundation management. We also provide economic and controller support to operations within operational support at SLU. The goals of the Finance Department include reliable and fair accounting as well as effective and secure economic administrative processes.
